This exclusive final design, a limited edition, will be brought to life by Thonet’s steam bending process from the 1930s.
Mr Martin said: 'This project was a challenge.
Challenging: Designer Andy Martin had to combine the low-tech process of steam bending with cutting edge bicycle technology to produce this finished product
'You needed to take on a fairly low-tech process of steam bending and then apply it to a 21st century bicycle with highly complex engineering.'
He has developed a series of connectors and sprung rods which will reinforce the bike’s joints and major stress areas in its frame.
Its solid beech wood seat will rest on sprung rod supports, above wheels made from carbon fibre.
Old and new: The amazing bicycle was made possible by combining the age-old material of solid beech wood with space-aged carbon fibre
